Προφίλ

Mr. A. Karamitsos has been in the stamp trade for more than thirty five (35) years and is a famous name in philately.

For all these years we have been at the forefront of the captivating hobby that is philately, supplying the collectors world wide with the philatelic products and services they need. We have held hundreds of successful public auctions and been privileged to handle many famous collections.

Our auctions feature the stamps and postal history of Greece and Greek area, countries of the Balkan peninsula, Turkey, Cyprus, Levant, thematic (Sports & Olympic Games, transportation, aviation, etc.), foreign countries and, also, Picture Postcards, coins and Banknotes.

Our recent specialized auctions included Olympics, Large Hermes Heads, Overprints in Large and Small Hermes Heads, Samos island, Mt. Athos, Cancellations of Type V of New Territories, Cancellations Type I-VI, Ionian Islands, former Yugoslavia, and many more.

We are major buyers of fine specialised and single country collections as well as large, general collections, accumulations and dealers' stocks and we welcome offers of individual, rare items in good condition, including old letters bearing early stamps and pre-stamp mail, rare and scarce airmail covers and are always looking to add to our stocks of these items.

We pay very attractive cash prices and we have a large clientele for all the above.

Alternatively, material can be sold on consignment by our auction describing service. Our team of specialists are available to give advice regarding the best method of sale to suit individual client's needs and to achieve the maximum realisation. Please remember that it is in our interests to obtain the highest realisation possible for the sale of your collection whether it is sold by Private Treaty or Public Auction. We know that our expertise, backed by our will ensure you get the best results. All material is carefully examined, lotted and described by our team of describers. A receipt or acknowledgement is given or sent to you as soon as the material is received. Starting Prices are agreed before the lots are placed on sale between you and the auction describer. Final Settlement notification is sent up to thirty five days after the last lot has closed. Payment can be made directly to your bank account or by a foreign currency draft if required. Details of Auction charges are available on request. Please email karamitsos@karamitsos.gr for full details.

Our renowned Public Auctions appear here on this site...in addition to numerous items that are offered for direct sale to you. Also, you can order through this site our newly published (September 2009) stamp catalogue HELLAS

Bidding is easy with our PUBLIC AUCTIONS or our special online WEEKLY AUCTIONS!
After entering an auction, just click any category or subcategory to view lots. You can also search for a specific lot number, a word or a short phrase in our item descriptions by entering it in the space provided and clicking "Begin Search".
To place a bid on any lot, just enter your bid amount in the space provided next to the lot description and click the "Enter Bid" button. A talley of your bids will appear in the upper left-hand side of your screen. Click "View Bidsheet" to view or change your bids at any time. When you are ready, click the "Finalize Bids" button to transmit them directly to us (using a secure server). It's that simple!
Our Public Auctions that appear on this site are part of our regular Catalog auctions, which also receive bids by phone, fax, and mail. Our Weekly Auctions, however, are only seen online. Therefore, you will know what the minimum bid is before placing your bid. Click "Check Bid Status" to find out whether or not you have the highest bid on all lots you have previously finalized. Additionally, our web site will notify you by e-mail in the event someone outbids you. The exact close time is displayed on the top of each auction page.
Also for Weekly Auctions, you can view Prices Realized (for your reference) and Unsold Lots, which are available for immediate purchase at the opening bid price.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
*** The prices (opening bids) are starting prices and we will not accept underbids (bids that are lower than these starting prices).

Ειδικά tips

When it comes to storing and taking care of the stamps one collects, it is always important to remember that they are just like other valuable paper-related products. They must be handled with care---and stored under conditions that will not cause any deterioration. For instance, the U.S. Library of Congress is full of books, old documents, newspapers, etc. that were, over the years, handled and stored improperly. Many of these paper items are turning brittle, discoloring, and may not be handled even by the most careful person. Thus it's absolutely vital that every stamp you collect be taken care of very carefully. Those of us who collect stamps today are merely "custodians" of material that collectors decades from now will also want to collect. So whether you re maintaining a collection of early stamps (and covers, too) from the 19th century or purchasing some of the newest issues, the same careful consideration should be given to all of them.
